Edmonton Oilers clinch division title with big win

McDavid, Draisaitl pace Oilers to victory

Oilers secure second straight Pacific Division title

The Edmonton Oilers clinched the Pacific Division title with a 5-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night. Leon Draisaitl scored twice and Connor McDavid added a goal and two assists as the Oilers extended their winning streak to four games.

Darnell Nurse and Zach Hyman also scored for the Oilers, who improved to 49-27-6 on the season. Thatcher Demko made 35 saves for the Canucks, who fell to 40-30-12.

The Oilers took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal by Nurse. Draisaitl made it 2-0 in the second period with a power-play goal, and McDavid extended the lead to 3-0 with a goal late in the period.

The Canucks cut the lead to 3-2 in the third period on goals by Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser, but Hyman and Draisaitl scored empty-net goals to seal the win for the Oilers.

McDavid now has 118 points on the season, which is third in the NHL. Draisaitl has 110 points, which is fourth in the league.

The Oilers will wrap up their regular season schedule on Saturday night when they host the Calgary Flames.
